Alcune chiare prove gettano forti sospetti su di lui: la sua macchina è stata vista sul luogo di un delitto, sull’arma ci sono le sue impronte digitali e sul cadavere hanno trovato il suo DNA. La vittima è il giudice Georg Holoch, che anni prima aveva portato in tribunale Jan per lesioni personali durante lo svolgimento del servizio. E quindi c’è anche un movente.

Nel frattempo continuano ad affiorare nuove tombe, con le loro promesse di morte. La polizia assiste impotente, perché nessuno è in grado di proteggere le vittime annunciate da un serial killer inafferrabile, scaltro quanto anomalo.
Isak Neumann, manager di un’importante casa farmaceutica, è precipitato dal suo attico in circostanze poco chiare. Arrivato in piena notte sulla scena, il commissario Tommen riscontra la presenza di un intruso grazie alle telecamere di sorveglianza: si tratta di Bernard Durand, che ha scontato due anni di carcere per lesioni colpose ai danni del padrone di casa.
Il suo avviso di ricerca è stato diramato da poche ore quando Durand si presenta in centrale e si costituisce. L’uomo, però, nega con forza di essere l’assassino e i numerosi indizi che emergono via via dalle indagini sembrano convergere su un misterioso progetto chiamato PERV9.
Appena Jan inizierà a far luce sugli oscuri retroscena del progetto, sarà lui stesso a finire sotto tiro. E come se non bastasse, Chandu riceve la drammatica richiesta d’aiuto di una vecchia conoscenza della squadra, che non dava sue notizie da un po’.
